SEMIKOZOV ANATOLIY, mandolin-player, Ukraine

Prizewinner of the international competition (mandolin).

Was born in 1955.

First came on a concert stage as a domra-player at the age of 8.

Got higher musical education at S.Prokofiev Donetsk State Musical-Pedagogical University (professor V. Ivko's class).

From 1982 to 1990: the concertmaster and the soloist of the folk music instrumental ensembleа лUzory╗ in Nikolayaev Region Philharmonic Society.

From 1990: the soloist and the musician of the State National Orchestra with Folk Musical Instruments (Kiev). 

From 1995 he acted both as a performer and a professor at Musical Department of Kiev State University of Culture.

From 1997 he began working on his own giving concerts in Germany with different performer teams. He came out on the Bavarian radio. Several programs on УDeutche WelleФ were devoted to him.

In 2001- 2003 he was invited as a УSpecial GuestФ to the instrumental ensemble лChantal╗ (Germany) to take part in concerts and CDs recording.

We must have heard for the first time the original Concertos for the mandolin with the camera orchestra by Vivaldi. It impressed us greatly, I must say: the stringed instrument played by plucking having overcome its nature was almost like singing. However, this is the matter of masterly skill: affectionate feeling of baroque epoch style, sharp phrase construction, fine timbre, especially in УquietФ fragments. The audience was anonymous in its feeling of excitement and purity.Ф

Nowadays Anatoliy SEMIKOZOV is one of the most prominent mandolin-players of Ukraine.

      Ein wahrer Meister der Mandoline ...Von alten russischen Volksweisen №ber Komponisten des Barock, wie Vivaldi, Hummel und Gervasio, spannte er einen Bogen №ber f№nf Jahrhunderte bis zur aktuellen Populфr-Musik. Vivaldis Concerti f№r Mandoline gelten in Fachkreisen als die mit am schwierigsten zu spielenden.       Neben der effektvollen Musik aus Irland (Chantal) setzte russische Musik, virtuos von Anatoliy Semikosov auf der Mandoline dargeboten, einen besonderen Farbtupfer. (Frank von Sydow, Bad Kreuznach,  8. Jan. 2002)
